The First-Year Engineer: Your Journey Starts Here

Arya College of Engineering & I.T. says the freshman year of the engineering faculty is not just an introduction to your course of study but also a way to develop various aspects of your personality through self-exploration. You are coming into college full of curiosity and a desire to know new things and, possibly, having some ideas regarding the directions you would like to explore further. Or maybe you don't even have any plans yet. It is completely okay.

During the first year of studies, college can seem quite intimidating. There will be many new subjects and routines to learn, a big campus to navigate around, etc. Try to create your own pattern of studying and revise all materials in a timely, consult your teachers if there is something that is hard to understand and the basics in mathematics, natural sciences, and core disciplines will prepare you for the more difficult courses ahead. In addition, good time management skills will allow you to dedicate time to sleep, social life and hobbies.

To learn engineering better, you should search for different ways to apply your knowledge in practice and this can be participation in a club dealing with technical topics, taking part in various competitions or projects related to the topic you are interested in. If you are fond of programming, electronics, design, mechanics, or other engineering topics, then try to approach them with curiosity, without any need to know everything from the first day.

The freshman year in engineering is more than just a first year in college—it is an opening act to an exciting journey. You enter the university full of questions, excitement and ambitions—whether you know exactly what you want to become in the future or not yet, both are completely normal. This year is the time to explore, gain knowledge and figure things out.

College life may be overwhelming for some freshmen at the beginning. With new subjects to study, new routines to form and a new environment to adjust to. It is important to build a routine for yourself that includes attending classes, making time for reviewing your course material and asking questions when you have any and good grounding in basic disciplines like mathematics, sciences and core subjects is essential in order to successfully handle the upcoming classes. Efficient time management is also necessary to be able to have time for resting and socializing.

Engineering is not taught through books. Find a way to implement what you learn into your projects, clubs or even competitions. Whatever draws your attention whether it is programming, electronics, designing, mechanics or some other new field, it is okay to do something with passion and not because of the need to know all and do all. Engineering clubs are a great way to get some experience in working with others.

Is Quantum Computing The Next Revolution

Arya College of Engineering & I.T. says Quantum computing shows immense promise as a revolutionary technology due to its potential to solve intractable problems in fields like drug discovery and optimization, but it faces significant hurdles before widespread impact. Recent breakthroughs in error correction and qubit fidelity mark real progress toward practical utility. Core Principles Quantum computers use qubits that leverage superposition and entanglement to process multiple states simultaneously, unlike classical bits, limited to 0 or 1. This enables exponential speedups for specific tasks, such as factoring large numbers via Shor's algorithm or searching unsorted databases with Grover's algorithm. However, qubits are fragile, requiring near-absolute zero temperatures and precise control. Key Achievements Google's 2025 Willow chip demonstrated scalable error reduction—more qubits meant fewer errors—while IonQ achieved 99.99% gate fidelity on 36 qubits, ou...
