Solar home systems and community microgrids deliver 24/7 power to remote villages, replacing kerosene lamps and diesel generators, which cut household costs by 50-70% and reduce health risks from fumes. Projects like Rajasthan's solar plants have connected 667,000 households, impacting 3.34 million lives through stable supply for lighting, fans, and appliances. In areas like Lakshmipura-Jharla, microgrids spurred a 150% rebound in energy use, expanding services like refrigeration and digital tools.

Agricultural and Economic Boost

Solar irrigation pumps under PM-KUSUM have reached 177,000 farmers in Rajasthan alone, enabling timely watering, cutting diesel expenses by 80%, and increasing crop yields by 20-30%. This fosters rural entrepreneurship—cold storage, agro-processing, and small textile units—while creating 189,000 jobs and mobilizing $283 million in funding. Women benefit most, freed from firewood collection for education or income activities, with solar-powered enterprises raising community incomes.
